I Did A $12K Longevity Test To Find Out When I Might Die

My father died of pancreatic cancer at 72. A year later, I enrolled in a $12,000 executive health program at Human Longevity, a Silicon Valley clinic, to answer a question I’d been avoiding: how much of my future is already written into my biology?

Over four hours, I went through a whole-body MRI, an echocardiogram, 16 vials of blood work, a GRAIL Galleri liquid biopsy screening for 50+ cancers, and full genome sequencing across more than 2,000 conditions. Some results were the relief I was hoping for — a 99% chance of being cancer-free, zero coronary artery calcium, and a longevity gene variant linked to living past 90. Others I never saw coming: an APOE4 allele that raises my lifetime Alzheimer’s risk, a 99th-percentile genetic score for Parkinson’s, and elevated Lp(a) — a heart risk factor no diet or workout can touch.
