In time for Memorial Day, Vietnam Veteran Armando Blanco, Sr., of Hammond, was discharged from Community Hospital in Munster after a nearly two-month hospital stay battling Coronavirus. Blanco, 73, was sent off with cheers from flag-waving hospital staff and emotional family members who hadn’t been able to see him in person during his hospitalization. Blanco spent several days in critical care and on a ventilator before finally turning toward recovery. Community Healthcare System celebrates all our many COVID victories – and the healthcare heroes who guide them there — at our hospitals and throughout Northwest Indiana.
