At times, we may find ourselves wrestling with the ways of the world and the ways of God. It can be much easier said than done when it comes to being IN this world and not being OF this world. However, God has promised that we are not alone to navigate these challenges.
Although he had made several mistakes and had even turned away from God, Alma the Younger’s family prayed continually for him that he may come to know the truth of the gospel and the truth of God. They had never given up on Alma. Similarly, God never gave up on Alma. He sent down an angel to prophesy unto him and to show him the power of forgiveness and the power of change. After hearing these prophecies, Alma softened and humbled his heart and began to pray earnestly to God for mercy and forgiveness.
God is known as a loving and merciful God. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for each of our sins and so that we can be forgiven. He hears each of our prayers individually and knows each of our situations, for “he remembereth every creature of his creating, he will make himself manifest unto all” (see Mosiah 27:30).
Alma the Younger teaches us that we can ALL be changed through Christ, no matter how much we have sinned or how far we feel we have gotten from Him. As long as we repent and turn to Him, He will not give up on us.
