I remember it was the Thursday before Good Friday last year… we were all at our weekly creative gathering in the Chapel. The aim of the night was to rehearse for our Easter services. There was much to be accomplished, we needed to get the presentations right. We wanted to make sure we’d done everything we could to ensure that across the weekend, people would see Jesus through our offerings of creativity and worship. We needed to keep the night moving!

JD, Jad and I had read the Easter story to our team and then Matty Crocker & Brooke Ligertwood decided to share “a little something” they had been working on… the guitar strummed…

Man of sorrows,
Lamb of God

It was holy…
It was one of those moments when time seemed to stop…
Our team worshipped …
Arms raised in surrender…
Hearts arrested at the enormity of what it meant for the God Man, Jesus, to give His life that we might live…

Lyrics:

Verse 1
Man of sorrows, Lamb of God
By His own betrayed
The sin of man and wrath of God
Has been on Jesus laid

Verse 2
Silent as He stood accused
Beaten, mocked, and scorned
Bowing to the Father’s will
He took a crown of thorns

Chorus
Oh that rugged cross my salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out hallelujah
Praise and honour unto Thee

Verse 3
Sent of heaven, God’s own Son
To purchase and redeem
And reconcile the very ones
Who nailed Him to that tree

Bridge
Now my debt is paid
It is paid in full
By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled
Now the curse of sin
Has no hold on me
Whom the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed

Verse 4
See the stone is rolled away
Behold the empty tomb
Hallelujah, God be praised
He’s risen from the grave

Christ Is Enough – Hillsong Worship

“I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back, no turning back.”

This simple declaration found within this song is a life-changing decision. Inspired by Welsh missionaries who travelled to India who became martyrs, this song is a call to the foundation of Christianity – deciding to follow Jesus.

Lyrics:

Verse 1
Christ is my reward
And all my devotion
Now there’s nothing in this world
That could ever satisfy

Pre-Chorus
Through every trial
My soul will sing
No turning back
I’ve been set free

Chorus
Christ is enough for me
Christ is enough for me
Everything I need is in You
Everything I need

Verse 2
Christ my all in all
My joy and my salvation
And this hope will never fail
Heaven is our home

Pre-Chorus
Through every storm
My soul will sing
Jesus is here
To God be the glory

Bridge

I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back
No turning back

I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back
No turning back

The cross before me
The world behind me
No turning back
No turning back

The cross before me
The world behind me
No turning back
No turning back
