Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent began its Art Therapy Program in May 2010 with the hiring of Certified Art Therapist, Lisa Rainey. Art therapy allows children to play an integral role in communicating their experience to the treatment team and provide them with the opportunity to regain their sense of power and control related to their hospitalization. There are times that only this form of expression allows a child or adolescent to clearly communicate what they are worried about or afraid of regarding their health condition. The program offers individual art therapy — including bedside sessions, group art therapy, as well as family/sibling art therapy.
