In a newly unsealed grand jury indictment, Nick Reiner is alleged to have laid in wait before murdering his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner at the Brentwood, Calif., home on Dec. 14. The indictment, publicly released Aug. 12, alleges the 32-year-old “personally used a deadly or dangerous weapon,” identified as a knife, and includes special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder by means of lying in wait. Nick pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder after the indictment was unsealed, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman. He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a knife in the killings. If convicted as charged, Nick could face life in state prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty, though prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty. He is due back in court Sept. 15 for a pretrial hearing. E! News has reached out to Nick’s attorney for comment but has not heard back.
