Dr. Alan & Diane Breier PARC is a full-service program for young people who are at the very earliest stages of a psychotic disorder.

Team members work to develop and maintain strong relationships with program participants and their families to support recovery and prevent relapse. They tailor treatment to each individual and employ many approaches including education, case management services, individual and group therapy, employment/educational services, and psychiatric medication management.

Team members also communicate with other health care providers and key community-based professionals to enhance understanding of mental illness among individuals outside the mental health field.

In this one-hour presentation, Marc Gerdisch, MD, FACS, FACC, cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon with Cardiac Surgery Associates who chooses to practice at Franciscan Health, discusses how the use of new pain control methods, new sternum securing devices, and nutrition and fitness suggestions prior to surgery can come together to result in shorter hospital stays, less pain and quicker healing for patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Educational content is directed toward specialists, primary care physicians and advanced practice providers. Program objective is:

1. Examine how ERAS protocols have changed the recovery of cardiac surgery patients

11-year-old boy speaks out after being shot by police officer

11-year-old Aderrien Murry speaks out after he was shot in the chest by an Indianola police officer. The officer shot Murry while he was responding to a domestic disturbance call at the child’s home, according to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Murry is recovering after being released from the hospital, according to his family, who has called for the officer to be fired and charged with the shooting. CNN reached out to Greg Capers, the police officer involved in the shooting, for comment but did not immediately hear back. #cnn #news
